Lutz Heuser – Short CV (English version)

Professor Lutz Heuser, Vice President SAP Research and Chief Development Architect at SAP AG, is responsible for the overall research portfolio management.

His areas of expertise include Internet of Services, Internet of Things, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) as well as the web-based service industry. He further initiated a number of research initiatives in the field of software technology for emerging economies and is active in this area on a global basis.

Professor Heuser joined SAP AG in 1999. Prior to his appointment at SAP AG, he was Director of the European Research Organization at Digital Equipment Corporation and member of the extended executive board of the German subsidiary of Digital Equipment. Professor Heuser was co-founder of the CEC Karlsruhe.

In 2004 Lutz Heuser was awarded an Honorary Professorship from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He is also a Visiting Professor at the National University of Paraguay and an Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. In 2008 Prof. Heuser has been awarded an Honorary PhD from the Technical University of Dresden.

He has been a member of acatech (German Academy for Technological Sciences) and the Feldafinger Circle since 2006. In the same year he also became Chairman of the IRF (International Research Forum) a high level Think Tank regarding IT trends.

In 2007 Professor Heuser became Chairman of ISTAG (Information Society Technologies Advisory Group), a member of the supervisory board of the VDE (Association for electrical, electronic & Information Technologies), as well as a member of the Research Committee of the Munich Circle, a Think Tank dedicated to communications research.

Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser, Leiter von SAP Research und Chief Development Architect bei SAP AG, zeichnet für das globale Forschungsportfolio und für den Bereich „Corporate Venturing“ (SAP Inspire) verantwortlich.

Seine Fachgebiete umfassen Internet der Dienste, Internet der Dinge, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), sowie die web-basierte Dienstleistungsgesellschaft. Des Weiteren initiierte er eine Reihe von Forschungsaktivitäten im Bereich Softwaretechnologie für Schwellenländer und ist in dieser Sache weltweit aktiv.

Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser trat 1999 in die SAP AG ein. Zuvor war er Direktor der europäischen Forschung von Digital Equipment Corporation und Mitglied der erweiterten Geschäftsleitung von Digital Equipment GmbH. Er war Mitbegründer des Forschungszentrums CEC Karlsruhe.

Weiterhin hat er eine Gastprofessur an der „National University of Paraguay“ und der „Queensland University of Technology“ inne. 2004 wurde Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser zum Honorarprofessor an der Technischen Universität Darmstadt ernannt.

Er ist seit 2006 Mitglied der acatech (Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften) sowie Mitglied des Feldafinger Kreises. Ebenfalls seit 2006 ist Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser der Chariman des IRF (International Research Forum), ein hochkarätiger Think Tank zu IT Trends.

Seit 2007 ist er Chairman der ISTAG (Information Society Technologies Advisory Group), Mitglied des Präsidiums des VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik Informationstechnik) sowie Mitglied des Forschungsausschusses des Münchner Kreises.
