Post conference excursion + lunch
For all conference participants interested in spending some more time in Stuttgart after the RESER 2008 conference we have worked out a social programme for Saturday, September 27th, 2008. There will be a Stuttgart Tour on the urban development of the city with subsequent lunch in the restaurant Plenum, located in the State Parliament of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
There is an extra charge of 40 € for this excursion, including guided bus tour and lunch. Booking is possible over the registration system.
The following description will give you an impression of the tour that awaits you.
A short drive through the cultural heart of the city will introduce us to the city’s most important points of interest, passing the State Gallery, the Opera House and the parliament building as well as Schlossplatz and Schillerplatz.
The bus tour will then continue out into the surrounding hills to enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the city, to the acclaimed Weissenhof housing estate on Killesberg hill.
Further we will go on to the historical districts Zuffenhausen and Bad Cannstatt, past the Wilhelma zoo/botanical gardens and the mineral spas. The tour will show us the city’s past and present and convey knowledge about urbanistic and architectural developments in Stuttgart, such as for instance the building sites of “Stuttgart 21″, a transregional transportation project.
Important historical sights will be presented and we will learn about current building projects like the new Porsche Museum or the recently constructed event area “NeckarPark” with the spectacular Mercedes-Benz World (where our reception on Thursday, September 25th takes place).
We will experience for ourselves how the city changes and enjoy an informative and amazing trip before returning to the main railway station in the city centre where the tour ends and the lunch in the restaurant Plenum will follow.
